Stuart T. Cowart - President
Mr. Cowart joined Albert Risk Management Consultants in 1980 after graduating from the University of Georgia with a B.B.A. degree in Risk Management and Insurance. He assumed his current position as Co-President in 1999.
Through his many years of client service, Mr. Cowart has gained extensive experience in designing and implementing risk management and insurance programs for national and international organizations. He is viewed as a trusted partner and strategic advisor to clients within a variety of industries, and possesses broad expertise in the areas of risk assessment and mitigation, strategic planning, procurement, and vendor evaluation.
Mr. Cowart is also an active member of his community and has served on the Finance Committee in Hopkinton, MA for over ten years.
Alfred H. Nagelberg - President
Since joining Albert Risk Management Consultants in 1980, Mr. Nagelberg has gained extensive experience in all areas of risk management and commercial insurance, working with clients in a variety of industries. He assumed his current position as Co-President of the firm in 1999.
Mr. Nagelberg is a graduate of the University of Georgia with an Masters of Business Administration degree in Risk Management and Insurance. He also has a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo with a major in Accounting.
Thomas L. Atkins, J.D., CPCU, ARM - Principal
Mr. Atkins has been in the risk management and commercial insurance field since 1968. His background includes insurance company and brokerage experience. He has been a risk management consultant since 1974 and with ARMC since 1978.
Mr. Atkins is a graduate of Towson University and the University of Baltimore School of Law. He is currently a member of the Society of Risk Management Consultants and the American Bar Association. He holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations.
Mr. Atkins has published articles in the risk management field, an instructor for the CPCU designation and is an active speaker on risk management and insurance issues.
Martin S. Berman - Principal
Prior to joining J.H. Albert in 1980, Mr. Berman had invested seventeen years in a variety of roles within the insurance industry. He practiced as a commercial lines underwriter for a major direct writing insurance company for more than seven years gaining extensive experience with the assessment of risk and the application of insurance to policyholder operations. Following Mr. Berman’s underwriting position, he worked for several years with a national insurance broker in its large client department as a technical account executive. His risk management experience while working for the national broker, and subsequently with a prominent regional broker, contributed to his well balanced exposure to a wide-range of client risks and risk treatment methods.
Mr. Berman’s commitment to his clients has earned him many longstanding relationships that have been fostered by his integrity, attention to detail, thirst for reasonable solutions (traditional and alternative), and passion for his clients’ well being. Thought of as a generalist with his career-wide exposure to every imaginable industry, he has demonstrated particularly strong skills serving businesses in the real estate, construction, and hospitality practice areas.
Mr. Berman was a charter board member of the Senior Financial Executives of Northern New England organization from 2002 to 2006. Since 1991, Mr. Berman has served as treasurer and board member for a non-profit housing association.
James W. Evans, Jr., ARM - Principal
Mr. Evans joined Albert Risk Management Consultants in 1981 after serving as a commercial lines account executive for Travelers Insurance Companies and in various assignments in the Boston Police Department. He has been a principal consultant and team leader since 1987.
As one of the firm's practice leaders, Mr. Evans serves clients in the public sector, healthcare, education, religious entity, professional services and group services practices. He provides expert assistance in risk assessment, strategic planning, professional and governance liability exposures, procurement, vendor evaluation, lender compliance, transportation and infrastructure construction risk management, program audits, complex risk financing and risk pooling.
An author and frequent public speaker, Mr. Evans addresses professional, educational and governmental organizations on various topics, including directors' and officers' liability, strategies for risk-sharing pools, Owner Controlled Insurance Programs, business continuity planning and post-loss recovery, risk financing alternatives, reinsurance strategies, and insurance market conditions.
Mr. Evans is a graduate of Boston College. He holds an AB in English (1976) and an MBA with a concentration in Finance (1981). He earned the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation from the Insurance Institute of America in 1981. Evans has been both an ARM instructor and a faculty member at Babson College, where he taught undergraduate courses in insurance, risk financing and risk management.
In addition to his client service commitments, Mr. Evans is active in local government and professional and community organizations. As a public official, he has served in both elected (Chairman, Board of Selectmen) and appointed (Long-Range Planning Committee, Council of Human Services, Audit Committee Chair, Stadium Advisory Committee and Chairman of the Foxborough Industrial Development Financing Authority) roles. As Chairman of FIDFA, he led the 1999 bond issue, financing $70 million in infrastructure improvements for the new Patriots stadium.
Judith A. Kokinda, CPCU, ARM - Principal
Ms. Kokinda joined Albert Risk Management Consultants (ARMC) in 1981 after having served for fifteen years as an officer and insurance consultant for a NJ based insurance consulting firm. Ms. Kokinda has been a principal and team leader at ARMC since 1991. As one of the firm’s practice leaders, Ms. Kokinda serves clients in the transportation, manufacturing, retail, wholesale, and energy industries. She provides expert assistance in risk assessment, program evaluation, strategic planning, professional and governance liability exposures, procurement, vendor evaluation, lender compliance, program audits, complex risk financing and risk pooling.
An author and public speaker, Ms. Kokinda addresses professional organizations on various topics, including insurance market conditions, risk financing alternatives, risk mitigation techniques, directors’ and officers’ liability, and insurance related issues surrounding bankruptcies.
Ms. Kokinda is the leader of the Manufacturing, Distribution, Transportation and Energy Practice Group as well as the Bankruptcy Practice Group for ARMC and is an active member of Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI), Turnaround Management Association (TMA), and International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC).
Michael A. Rodman, CPCU - Principal
Mr. Rodman has extensive experience in all areas of risk management. In 1969, following six years as a licensed insurance broker and account executive with a Boston-based insurance agency, he became the first consultant employed by Albert Risk Management Consultants. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts - Amherst with a B.B.A. degree in General Business and Finance, he has completed numerous insurance courses and received the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation in 1968.
Mr. Rodman has served as a Board Member, Membership Chairman and Meetings Chairman of the Society of Risk Management Consultants , an international organization dedicated to the maintenance of high ethical standards, professional competence, independence and objectivity of its members. He has been qualified in the courts as an industry expert in a number of insurance litigation cases, has authored many articles and is a frequent speaker on insurance and risk management subjects.
Charles W. Soucy, CPCU, CLU, ARM - Principal
Mr. Soucy's risk management and insurance career began in 1976 when he joined a Greater Boston insurance agency, becoming president during his tenure. He joined Albert Risk Management in 1986 and has been a principal of the firm since 1999.
His experience at Albert has included a wide range of clients in industries from multi-national corporations to closely-held businesses including manufacturing, retail, real estate, energy, and health care. His practice focuses on educational institutions and financial services and he serves as the firm's practice leader in these industries. He has authored articles and is a frequent speaker on various risk management and insurance topics.
Mr. Soucy is a 1976 graduate of The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, with a BS Degree in economics. He has attained the professional designations Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and was formerly a member of the adjunct faculty at Bentley College, where he taught Insurance and Risk Management.
Joseph H. Albert - Founder
Mr. Albert has had extensive worldwide experience in all phases of risk management and commercial property and casualty insurance. Prior to founding his own firm in 1967, Mr. Albert spent nine years as a senior consultant with a large insurance consulting firm where he originated and edited a well-known insurance newsletter.
Mr. Albert's insurance training began in the mid-1950's when he became associated with a Quincy, MA insurance agency servicing commercial accounts. He is a graduate of Bentley College School of Accounting. Mr. Albert is widely respected within the risk management field and is a frequent speaker before trade associations and insurance organizations.
David R. Ackerman, CRM, CPCU, ARM, AU - Senior Consultant
Mr. Ackerman joined Albert Risk Management Consultants in 1989. Mr. Ackerman is a member of the ARMC Education and Financial Services Practice Groups, and also has experience with clients in the real estate, manufacturing, engineering, healthcare, hospitality, wholesale and municipal sectors.
Mr. Ackerman's risk management and insurance career began in a commercial lines underwriting training program with a national insurance company in 1983. Prior to joining ARMC, he worked for three different national insurance companies advancing from Underwriting Trainee to Senior Staff Underwriter, where he developed extensive experience in commercial property and casualty underwriting, with a concentration in large accounts.
Mr. Ackerman is a cum laude graduate of Tufts University with a Bachelor of Science in psychology. He received the Certified Risk Manager International (CRM) designation from the National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research in 2006 and the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation from the American Institute of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters in 1998. He also received the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation in 1991; the Associate in Underwriting (AU) designation in 1988 and his Certificate in General Insurance in 1985 from the Insurance Institute of America. He is a member of the Board of Directors and former Treasurer of the Massachusetts Society of Licensed Insurance Advisers.
Robert F. Allaire, CPCU, ARM - Managing Consultant
Mr. Allaire is a Managing Consultant who has been with Albert Risk Management Consultants for over eighteen years. He has a broad background in the areas of risk management and insurance. He has maintained longstanding relationships with clients in a variety of industries and is an integral part of their risk management teams.
Prior to joining Albert Risk Management Consultants, Mr. Allaire was an Account Representative with a global insurance brokerage firm in Boston.
Following graduation from the College of the Holy Cross in 1982, Mr. Allaire received an MBA from Boston University in 1988. He earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 1993 and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation in 2005. Mr. Allaire is a former instructor at Northeastern University's Insurance and Financial Services Institute and he presently serves as a director of the Boston Chapter of CPCU.
Carla E. Andrews, CPCU - Managing Consultant
Carla Andrews is a Managing Consultant who has been with ARMC for almost eighteen years. Ms. Andrews’ areas of expertise include strategic planning, program design, contract analysis and negotiations, out-sourcing, management of large property portfolios, and the delivery of comprehensive consulting services for all types of real estate and construction risks. She is an active member of ARMC’s Real Estate, Hospitality and Construction Practice Group.
Ms. Andrews began her career in the insurance industry as a multi-line commercial underwriting with a national insurance company. Prior to joining ARMC in 1989, she was a licensed insurance broker, Account Executive and Sales Coordinator with a regional insurance agency headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts.
Ms. Andrews was a Sarah Williston Scholar and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Mount Holyoke College. She also holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation, is a member of the CPCU Society, an associate of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS), and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
She has served as an expert public speaker for real estate and construction organizations, trade associations, legal groups, boards of directors and trustees, and national forums of corporate property managers and safety committees on a variety of risk management topics affecting the real estate and construction industries. She is also an accredited risk management and insurance educator for CLE International.
David A. Brague - Senior Consultant
Mr. Brague is a Senior Risk Management Consultant and has been with Albert Risk Management Consultants for over twenty years. David's clients include businesses and non-profit organizations in the commercial real estate, residential real estate, construction, retail, metal fabrication and automotive component manufacturing industries. Mr. Brague's areas of specialization include contract analysis and negotiations, building valuation analysis, creating and administering master programs for large property portfolios and workers' compensation. He is an active member of the firm's Real Estate, Hospitality and Construction Practice Groups. In addition, David has served as an expert witness in a workers' compensation fraud case.
Prior to joining Albert Risk Management Consultants, Mr. Brague was a commercial lines underwriter with a national insurance company's Boston office for seven years. Serving in four underwriting positions during this period, David was involved with property, liability, inland marine, auto, workers’ compensation and fidelity insurance, as well as special programs such as the high tech industry and recreational clubs. Mr. Brague is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts - Amherst with a BA in Finance.
Glenn F. Brown, ARM - Senior Consultant
Mr. Brown joined Albert Risk Management Consultants in 1994 after gaining extensive claims experience with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. He held adjuster, supervisory and managerial level positions in auto, liability and workers’ compensation units. Mr. Brown's broad claims exposure has given him a working knowledge of the varied workers’ compensation and civil litigation systems throughout the United States.
At Albert Risk Management, Mr. Brown designs claims cost control programs, performs insurer and TPA claim audits, conducts claim reviews and runs training sessions on wide ranging loss management topics. He has written widely on claims and risk management topics and has served as an expert witness in connection with many litigated claims issues.
Mr. Brown provides expert assistance in the areas of risk management, insurance procurement, negotiation of insurance terms and conditions, and vendor evaluation. He received his B.A. from Colby College in Waterville, Maine in 1987 and attained the Associate in Risk Management designation in 1995.
Drew F. Clark - Staff Consultant
Mr. Clark joined Albert Risk Management Consultants in 2005 after working over four years with a major insurance brokerage firm in Boston. His clients are in the real estate, hospitality and construction fields.
Mr. Clark graduated from Tufts University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in German Studies. He is currently pursuing the Associate in Risk Management designation.
Frederic C. Church, Jr., CPCU, CIC, ARM - Senior Consultant
Mr. Church joined Albert Risk Management Consultants as a Senior Consultant in March 2006. Prior to joining Albert he served in various capacities in the insurance industry including service with Aon (where he was COO of their Boston office and CEO of their risk management subsidiary), Boston Risk Management Corporation (a risk consulting firm that he founded), and Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare (where he helped launch an innovative workers compensation company).
He is the author of Avoiding Surprises (second edition published in April, 2000) which describes seven steps to an efficient, low-cost corporate risk management and insurance program, and The "Compleat" Risk Manager, an exhaustive study of the management knowledge, skills, practices, and attitudes of over three hundred risk managers as well as articles for various industry publications. He has been a guest speaker at various corporate, industry and academic events as well as teaching risk management courses for The Society of CIC in its Certified Risk Manager (CRM) program.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts at Harvard College and his Masters in Management from Lesley University. He holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations.
Mr. Church has served as chairman of the board and a director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston, an overseer of Lesley University, a trustee and overseer of the New England Conservatory of Music, an advisor to the School of Management of Suffolk University, a trustee of Old Sturbridge Village, and Chairman of the Corporation of St. Aidan's Chapel. He is an honorary member of the Suffolk University School of Management honor society, Delta Mu Delta.
Chester R. Freeman, CPCU - Senior Consultant
Mr. Freeman has been employed in the insurance industry since 1973. In his prior positions with two major stock companies, he served in various underwriting, marketing and management capacities. He received extensive experience in both commercial and personal, casualty and property insurance.
Mr. Freeman graduated from Bowdoin College receiving his BA degree in Government and Legal Studies. He received the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation in 1977.
Lisa C. Hartman, ARM - Senior Consultant
Ms. Hartman is an expert claims consultant with 25 years casualty claims experience. She has been a Senior Claims Consultant with Albert Risk Management for the past 15 years providing advice and counsel to corporate clients regarding their claims and safety programs. She also aggressively manages all facets of their casualty claims portfolio. Ms. Hartman’s clients are in the real estate, construction, hospitality, trucking and retail industries.
Ms. Hartman’s other past experience includes working for a large Boston based law firm as a Legal Assistant and working for a prominent Boston based national insurance company as a senior multi-lines claims adjuster.
She holds an Associate in Risk Management designation from the American Institute for Chartered Property Underwriters and is a graduate of Ithaca College, having received her Bachelor of Arts degree for Speech Communications and Public Relations. As a frequent public speaker, Ms. Hartman addresses professional, educational and legal organizations on various topics, including safety, claims management and strategies for conflict resolution.
Suzanne E. Ibbeken, ARM - Senior Consultant
Suzanne Ibbeken is a Senior Consultant and has been with Albert Risk Management Consultants since 1995. As a senior member of the firm’s Public Sector and Social Services Practice Groups, Suzanne provides expert assistance in areas such as risk assessment, insurance procurement, vendor evaluation and program audits. In addition to working with public sector and social service clients, Suzanne also advises clients in the healthcare, manufacturing and real estate sectors.
She received a B.S. in Commerce from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia and an M.B.A., with a concentration in Risk Management and Insurance, from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. She also holds the Associate is Risk Management designation.
Mark S. Klevanosky, CPCU - Managing Consultant
Mr. Klevanosky has been employed in the insurance industry since 1978. Prior to joining Albert Risk Management Consultants, he was with a major insurance broker for three years and with a property insurance company for six years.
Mr. Klevanosky received a BS in Management from Boston College and an MBA in Management/Organizational Behavior from Babson College. He is also a holder of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation.
Christina M. Kokinda, ARM - Senior Consultant
Ms. Kokinda is a Senior Consultant who began her risk management career with the firm in 1998. She has a background in risk management and insurance with clients in the manufacturing, retail, wholesale, real estate and technology. She also has experience with the review and design of insurance programs for high net worth individuals. She is a member of the Manufacturing, Retail and Technology Practice Group.
Ms. Kokinda received a B.B.A. degree in Marketing from Bentley College in 1998. She has also attained her Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation. She is currently pursuing the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation.
Lewis S. LaClair, CPCU, ARM, AU - Managing Consultant
Mr. LaClair managed the foreign risk management program for a multi-national non-profit organization prior to joining Albert Risk Management Consultants in 1985. In that position, he gained experience in underwriting, captive operations and risk management. Since joining Albert Risk Management Consultants, he has specialized in construction and energy accounts, but also works with several non-profit entities.
Mr. LaClair graduated summa cum laude from Atlantic Union College. He has continued his professional development through the years with industry-related programs. He presently holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation from the American Institute of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters. He also holds the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and Associate in Underwriting (AU) designations from the Insurance Institute of America. He is pursuing the Associate in Claims (AIC) designation.
Bruce C. MacDonald, ARM, CRIS - Practice Leader, Construction Risk
Mr. MacDonald began his career in the insurance industry as a multiline commercial underwriter with a national insurance company in 1978. He joined Albert Risk Management in 2004. Prior to joining Albert Risk, he was an insurance broker, advisor and senior vice president with a national insurance firm.
Mr. MacDonald has extensive local, national and international experience principally within the specialized area of construction risk management. His experience includes representing clients building construction projects in a variety of fields including education, retail, real estate, high tech, healthcare, airport and infrastructure project assignments. Areas of expertise include construction contract review, the feasibility, design, placement, implementation and closeout of OCIP and CCIP insurance plans, surety bonds and alternatives, as well as the evaluation of successful construction safety management protocols. Mr. MacDonald is a member of the firm's Public Sector, Religious Entity, Pool, Professional Services and Healthcare Practice Group.
He was awarded the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation from the Insurance Institute of America, the Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designation from the International Risk Management Institute and is a candidate for the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation from the American Institute for Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters.
Elizabeth S. Montemayor - Senior Consultant
Ms. Montemayor has been employed in the insurance industry since 1993. She worked as a Senior Underwriter and Underwriting Officer in New York and Boston for two multi-national insurance companies where she developed extensive experience in property and marine underwriting. A graduate of the University of Vermont, with a B.A. in History, Ms. Montemayor joined Albert Risk Management Consultants in 2001.
She is a member of the firm’s Real Estate, Hospitality and Construction Practice Group. Ms. Montemayor specializes in the risk management and insurance needs of the commercial and residential real estate sectors.
She is currently pursuing the Associate in Risk Management designation and has completed coursework towards the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation from the American Institute of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters.
Joseph P. Perez - Staff Analyst
Mr. Perez joined Albert Risk Management Consultants in 2006. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Perez worked over seven years with a wholesale travel company in New Hampshire and separately owned his own construction firm. His clients are in the real estate, hospitality and construction fields.
Mr. Perez attended Rutgers University and Keene State College. He is also currently pursuing the Associate in Risk Management designation.
David P. Plante, ARM - Practice Leader, Due Diligence
David Plante has provided solutions within the insurance industry since 1979. He began his career with a global property insurance company as a loss prevention engineer and technical writer/editor focused on delivering loss control solutions to clients with highly protected risks (HPR). He then joined a Fortune 200 diversified financial services company where he provided internal loss prevention and safety solutions. With increased risk management responsibilities, he employed his expertise at identifying and solving operational risks when he became Risk Manager for the organization and its domestic and foreign subsidiaries.
Mr. Plante has hands-on experience designing and implementing risk management programs and processes for financial services, institutional real estate portfolios, commercial lending & leasing, timberland investing and management, healthcare services, food processing and manufacturing.
As a Practice Leader, David provides expert assistance with risk financing solutions & strategy, lender compliance, due diligence during acquisitions and divestitures, process control evaluations, vendor evaluations, implementing risk management information systems, and operational risk & exposure mapping.
Mr. Plante obtained his B.S. at the University of Maine at Orono, and has an MBA with a concentration in finance from Babson College (1997). He earned the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation from the Insurance Institute of America in 1989 and is certified as a Six-Sigma Green Belt. He also has been a member, board member and Vice President of the Massachusetts Risk and Insurance Management Society.
Laura M. Rickman, CPCU - Senior Consultant
Laura Rickman has been employed in the insurance industry since 1979. Prior to joining Albert Risk Management Consultants, she was an Account Underwriting Executive and an Account Engineer for a global HPR insurance carrier where she developed extensive expertise in HPR property underwriting and loss control.
As a senior member of the firm’s Real Estate, Hospitality and Construction Practice Group Laura provides advice to clients in a variety of industries on risk assessment and mitigation, program evaluation, insurance procurement and vendor evaluation.
A graduate of the University of Lowell, with a BS degree in Civil Engineering, Ms. Rickman also holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
Donald J. Riggin, CPCU, ARM - Practice Leader, Alternative Risk
Donald J. Riggin joined Albert Risk Management Consultants in April of 2006. As the leader of the firm’s Alternative Risk Solutions practice, he provides corporate and public sector clients with state-of-the-art risk financing advice and services. These include captive and self-insurance feasibility analyses, ART facility implementation and auditing services, and a wide spectrum of non-standard risk financing solutions.
Mr. Riggin’s previous experience includes Managing Director of Product Development at Liberty Mutual Alternative Markets and over 20 years of experience creating alternative risk financing structures as a broker and consultant.
Mr. Riggin is an accomplished author and speaker. He edited and wrote IRMI’s Risk Financing, a quarterly reference service published by International Risk Management Institute in Dallas, Texas. From April 1998 to March 2005 Mr. Riggin wrote and edited Financing Risk & Reinsurance (FRR), a monthly newsletter devoted to Enterprise Risk Management, financial reinsurance, and the convergence of the insurance and capital markets. FRR was also published by IRMI. Mr. Riggin is a co-author of The Tools and Techniques of Risk Management and Insurance, a college level textbook published by The National Underwriter Company. Three times each year, Mr. Riggin teaches a two-day workshop on alternative risk financing techniques as part of the RIMS Fellow ® professional designation program.
Mr. Riggin holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Towson University, as well as the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) professional designations.
Albert H. Shapiro, CPCU, ARM - Senior Consultant
Mr. Shapiro is a Senior Consultant in Albert Risk’s Real Estate, Hospitality and Construction practice group. He has been with Albert Risk for more than fifteen years and has broad experience with habitational real estate clients. Mr. Shapiro has recognized the needs of America’s affordable housing industry and has addressed them by specializing in the creation of insurance programs for affordable housing clients and groups. He has spoken in front of a number of industry organizations on insurance and risk management topics and is active in the National Affordable Housing Management Association.
Before joining Albert Risk Management Consultants, Mr. Shapiro was a commercial multi-line underwriter with a national insurance company’s Boston office. Mr. Shapiro earned a masters degree in economics from the University of Connecticut and is a graduate of Colby College. He received his Associate in Risk Management designation in 1985 and became a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter in 1990.
Daniel G. Tracy, CPCU - Senior Consultant
Mr. Tracy has been in the risk and insurance consulting field since 1978. He has a broad background in risk management and insurance serving clients in a variety of industries, and has particular expertise in executive liability insurance matters.
Prior to joining Albert Risk Management Consultants in 1994, Mr. Tracy was a consultant with a nationally recognized consulting firm, working with many commercial and institutional clients.
Mr. Tracy holds a B.S. in risk and insurance management, summa cum laude, and an MBA, beta gamma sigma, from Florida State University. He also received the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation in 1991.
David A. Tweedy - Practice Leader, Risk Information
David A Tweedy joined Albert Risk Management Consultants (ARMC) in June of 2006. As the leader of the firm’s Risk Information Consulting practice, he provides corporate and public sector clients with risk information technology advice and services. Some of these include risk management information system (RMIS) industry competitive analysis studies, RMIS and technology audits, system design, selection and implementation projects, existing system maximization studies, and data management problem projects.
Mr. Tweedy is an internationally recognized expert in the RMIS and claims management arena, having served in senior consultative roles for Marsh Risk Consulting, IBM Global Services, Deloitte & Touche, and Betterley Risk Consultants. He has over 24 years of experience as a risk management consultant.
Mr. Tweedy is an accomplished author and speaker. He has been a regular columnist for Business Insurance on RMIS. He has been published in Risk Management Magazine, The John Liner Review, The Journal of Workers Compensation, the Journal of Accountancy, Corporate Cash Flow, Corporate Cover and Global Risk Manager. He also co-authored Standard Publishing’s Workers Compensation Claims Management manual and wrote the chapter on RMIS in the ARM 55 textbook.
Mr. Tweedy is a frequent speaker before various groups on risk technology and claims management issues including national, regional and local conferences of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS), Public Risk Insurance Management Agency (PRIMA) and several insurance system vendor/users’ groups. He has also addressed international risk management audiences in Singapore and Helsinki, Finland, at their RIMS conventions on risk technology issues.
Mr. Tweedy holds a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Massachusetts in Amherst and a Master of Business Administration degree in finance from the University of Rhode Island in Kingston. He is a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) as awarded by the Institute of Management Consultants in New York City.
Joe C. Underwood, CPCU, ARM - Senior Consultant
Mr. Underwood has been a Senior Risk Management Consultant with Albert Risk Management since April 2003. He has a broad background in risk management and insurance, with an emphasis on risk financing. His clients are in the manufacturing, retail, wholesale, technology, and public sector fields and he manages the firm's manufacturing, distribution, and technology practice groups.
Mr. Underwood began his risk management career with the firm in January 1996. He also previously served as senior product manager for Global Risk Exchange, a technology firm focused on transparency and efficiency in the commercial insurance buying process.
Mr. Underwood received a B.B.A. degree in Risk Management and Insurance from the University of Georgia in 1995 and an M.B.A. degree from Babson College with a concentration in Finance in 2003. He also attained the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 2000 and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation in 1996.
William Quinn, Jr., CPCU, ARM, ALCM - Director
Mr. Quinn is the Director of Claims Management Services at Albert Risk Management. He has forty years casualty claims experience with a prominent national insurance company. Prior to joining Albert Risk Management Consultants, he was Home Office Manager of Claims Service for a leading underwriter of property and casualty insurance. He was responsible for designing and implementing cost containment programs for Fortune 500 companies.
A graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, Mr. Quinn has earned the designations of Associate in Risk Management, Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter and Associate in Loss Control Management. He has also instructed all parts of the ARM program and has spoken at national and regional meetings of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, as well as the National Safety Congress.
At Albert Risk Management he has extensive experience auditing claims involving bankruptcies, mergers and acquisitions, as well as measuring the quality of claims service provided by insurance carriers and third party administrators.
